Biomedical Scientist

Type of employment: Fixed-term employment, 6 months

Extent: 50 %

Location: Institute of Biomedicine, Gothenburg

First day of employment: September 1 or as agreed

The Institute of Biomedicine is involved in both research and education. In both of these areas, we focus on fundamental knowledge of the living cell – what it consists of, how it works, how its function is directed by the genetic material, and how it interacts with various kinds of micro-organisms. Using this knowledge, we try to elucidate the causes of diseases, and find new ways to diagnose and treat them.

The Institute is composed of the following five departments:

  • The Department of Infectious Diseases
  • The Department of Microbiology and Immunology
  • The Department of Pathology and Genetics
  • The Department of Clinical Chemistry and Transfusion Medicine
  • The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Cell Biology
  • At present, the institute has about 350 employees and approximately 290 million SEK in total assets.

Job assignments
Biomedical Scientist needed with knowledge and experience in molecular biology and CRISPR / Cas 9 technology. Tasks include CRISPR / Cas9 cloning, screening, transfection and cell culture work.

Qualifications
Bachelor degree in biomedical laboratory science and a strong background in cell and molecular biology. Experience in working with molecular biology techniques and organizational skills in laboratory research. Candidates who have worked with CRISPR / Cas 9 technology will be given preference.
