Postdoc organic synthesis and homogeneous catalysis in the field of Bioaromatics

Details vacancy:

You will be working in the research group Organic Synthesis (ORSY) of the Department of Chemistry. The research team is a partner in the centre of excellence on Green Chemistry and the valorization platform SusChemA of the University of Antwerp. Your research project will deal with the development of new synthetic methodologies to transform phenolic compounds obtained via lignin cleavage into useful building blocks for the fine chemicals industry. Your work fits in the framework of the multipartner projects ARBOREF and BIO-HArT connecting research teams of different Flemish and Dutch universities and research institutes with complementary scientific expertise in the field of Bioaromatics.

Candidate profile:

The ideal candidate for this position will have a PhD in organic synthesis with experience in transition metal-catalyzed reactions, purification techniques and structural characterization of organic molecules. The ability to work in a team, interest to be involved in a multidisciplinary research projects, as well as good communication/writing skills and a good mastery of the English language is essential. Besides experimental lab work the candidate is expected to perform project management.

Additional info: The University of Antwerp offers you a contract of 1 year (which can be extended). Relevant experience will be taken into account.
