Job Description

Biogen is seeking a Ph.D. level scientist with expertise in antibody display technologies, antibody engineering, and assay development. The candidate will interact with multidisciplinary project teams focused on developing therapies for neurology and specialty areas (hematology, gene therapy, neuroimmunology, and pain disorders). Primary responsibilities will include the support of discovery research projects with an active role in therapeutic antibody selection. The position will require design and use of antibody display libraries to identify therapeutic candidates. The applicant will also be responsible for the development of assays to facilitate identification and prioritization of protein and antibody therapeutic candidates. In this capacity, the applicant will have the opportunity to explore underlying fundamentals of protein structure-function relationships and protein-protein interactions using your skills in antibody display technology, molecular biology, and assay development.

Qualifications

The successful applicant will have proven expertise in yeast display (or alternate display systems) and antibody library design and construction, including naïve and/or libraries for affinity maturation. Experience with FACS, automation, Octet (or other biochemical methods of affinity measurement), and protein purification is highly preferred. Additional experience with antibody cloning from B-cells and hybridomas, NGS analysis of libraries, and LIMS is a plus but not required. Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong lab skills, a proven ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, and a strong publication record are required. Experience managing a research associate, as well as leading project teams in a matrix environment is preferred. *LI-RD2

Education

The candidate will have a Ph.D. in Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or a related field. At least five years of relevant research experience is required.
