You are an experimental scientist with expertise in proteome analysis for diverse biological samples. As a key contributor to Cedilla’s novel proteomics platform, you will generate essential proprietary data that will be facilitate the discovery, validation, and prioritization of new targets and lead molecules, understanding of interactome and molecular mechanism of action for protein targets and candidate therapeutic chemical entities. As a Biochemistry Proteomics Scientist at our growing company, you will be empowered to design experiment and workflows and, working closely with the computational proteomics counterpart, influence decision-making, and research directions.

  • Collaborating with colleagues in biochemistry, biology, and chemistry to develop proteomics strategies.
  • Designing experiments to answer crucial questions about protein stability and protein-protein interactions.
  • Using established, or developing new, computational methods to analyze various proteomics data in conjunction with computational proteomics.
  • Participating on multi-disciplinary teams and helping guide protein complex optimizations.
  • Managing collaborations with contract research organizations (CROs) and academic partners.

Some of the highlights of your background are:

  • Proven track record in the implementation of diverse proteomics workflows and experiments.
  • Expertise in cell, tissue and biofluid sample preparation and manipulation to enable whole proteome analysis and affinity enrichment protein isolation (immuno- and/or chemical) for interactome mapping and selective identification of proteins from complex biological systems. Proficiency in protein biochemistry techniques (fractionation, chromatography, labeling, digestion, etc.) is required. Experience in molecular biology and with mammalian cell culture in regular and isotopically labeled media is preferred.
  • Experience in chemical proteomics applications to study small molecule-protein interactions using affinity and/or activity-based proteomic profiling both for in-lysate and whole-cell workflows. Command of automated liquid handling workstations (software and hardware) and their application to high throughput proteomics is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of quantitative high-resolution mass spectrometry (qHRMS) proteomics experimentation and its diverse, multiplexed workflows. Hands-on experience in sample processing, including optimization/miniaturization, using both peptide-labeling (e. TMT®, SILAC, etc.) and label-free experimental methods.
  • Knowledgeable in software for data acquisition and management used in proteomics research. Able to QC, analyze and interpret data generated by self and others. Good command of common visualization tools such as TIBCO Spotfire® is preferred. Hands-on experience with nLC-MS/MS instruments is preferred but this position does not require maintenance or tuning of such platform.
  • Creative and independent scientific thinking to solve complex technical and scientific problems. Capable of integrating information generated from multiple sources to shape and strengthen experimental design and research hypotheses.
  • Highly self-motivated, with excellent attention to detail and strong organizational and communication (oral and written) skills. Ability to work independently, yet team-oriented and capable of building strong relationships with peers, customers and partners/collaborators.
