Bioinformatician/PhD student Position – 2016BAPFGGWEF168

The Center for Oncological Research (CORE) and the Center for Medical Genetics from the University Hospital Antwerp (UZA) and the University of Antwerp (UA) are performing scientific research regarding the unraveling of the genetics of Neuro-Endocrine Tumours.

Within this collaboration, the research teams are currently looking for:

Job Profile

The candidate will perform bio-informatics based research aimed at the integration of next generation sequencing technology in the CORE. You will integrate different “omics”-data using various bio-informatic tools, with the final goal of understanding the complex biology of neuro-endocrine tumours. You will join an enthusiastic team, with an established and extensive international research network and will work in close collaboration with several researchers from CORE, the Center for Medical Genetics and BioMina, the biomedical informatics research center Antwerp.

Requirements

You either have a master degree in bio-informatics or you are a master in life sciences, biochemistry, biology, biomedical engineering or related discipline and you combine that with exceptional computer skills and a strong willingness to fully submerge into the world of bio-informatics. Experience with Linux and one or more programming languages is an advantage.
Successful candidates are highly motivated, like to work in an interactive research team, are capable of establishing new methods as required for the project and are willing to work on a PhD project starting from October 2016. Proficiency in English or Dutch is required.
