Biologics Cell Line Development Scientist II Position @ Celgene Pharmaceutical USA

This Scientist II position in our Biologics Cell Line Development group will be responsible for vector construction and genetic characterization of cell banks to support cell line development. Reporting to the head of Cell Line Development, the successful candidate will focus on the development of mammalian cell lines in the production of monoclonal antibody and other types of recombinant proteins, including fusion protein, antibody drug conjugates, and bi-specific antibody, for clinical and commercial manufacturing.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

1.Performs key activities associated with production cell line development including transfection, selection, single cell cloning, high throughput screening, characterization of clonal cell lines using scale-down models, cell banking, and cell line stability studies.
2.Develop and optimize new protein expression platform including designing, constructing, and evaluating novel expression vectors and expression system.
3.Perform cell line genetic characterization using methods such as real-time PCR, NGS, and Southern blot to support cell line development and clone selection.
4.Manage development projects with outsourcing activities.
5.Host cell development including genetic engineering and media adaptation.
6.Perform and develop immunoassays such as Octet, ELISA, and FAC analysis.
7.Work closely with other members of CLD team, upstream process development and purification teams to support development activities.
8.Create written technical reports and presents data in project team meetings.
9.Serving as SME for data review and development support in cross functional team meetings.

Qualifications

PhD in Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biochemical Engineering, or relevant discipline and over 4 years of industrial cell line development experience, MS with over 8 years relevant experience.

Skills/Knowledge Required:

•Hands-on experience with generating high producing mammalian production cell line is required.
•Extensive experience with DNA cloning, vector construction and design, and genetic characterization of production cell banks is required. Experience with NGS-based genomic is a plus.
•Experience with gene targeting and genome editing technologies.
•Experience with immunological assays such as Octet assay, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, Western blot, and FACS analysis.
•Proven record on publication in peer reviewed journals and presentation in conference.
•The candidate must be well organized and have excellent oral and written communication skills.
•To be able to perform well in a collaborative team oriented and fast paced environment to meet project timeline.
