Biology Research Associate Job Opportunity @ Augusta University Georgia

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science or clinical laboratory particularly clinical trial research
    OR
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years’ research and/or clinical experience; previous supervisory experience

Departmental Requirements –

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills

  • Excellent verbal/written communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills
  • Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other computer software/databases
  • Good laboratory practices
  • Competency in research techniques
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; exercise sound judgment and decision making; maintain confidentiality
  • Willingness and ability to work with research animals

Preferred

Five years’ of experience in lab management and previous publication in peer-review scientific journals
One year of experience in analytical procedures involving the use of a variety of techniques including cell transfection, cell line maintenance, western blotting, quantitative PCR, Micro CT, histology, biomechanical testing of calcified tissues, and histomorphometry
Experience in mammalian tissue cultures and small animal procedures

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to: manage lab operations and core equipment (Micro CT); design, conduct, and analyze research; conduct research experiments and present data; maintain laboratory supplies; work with research animals; and all other duties as assigned.

Shift/Salary
Shift: Days/M-F

Pay Grade: R12

Salary: $15.06/hr – $16.82/hr

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position

Recruitment Period: 4/14/17 – Until Filled
