Biomedicine & Health Data Analyst Position @ Manchester University UK

We are looking for a data analyst to develop and apply methodology for data integration and patient stratification in Lupus using large scale patient-level and molecular data. This post is part of the machine learning analysis group of the MRC-funded Stratified Medicine Consortium, MASTERPLANS (MAximizing Sle ThERapeutic PotentiaL by Application of Novel and Stratified approaches). The overall aim of the analysis group is to create predictive models for potential beneficial and adverse outcomes for individual patients, with the model for beneficial outcomes being the primary objective.

The analyst will work alongside a team developing algorithms and methodologies to utilise information from patient-level and molecular data, for the purpose of identification of subgroups of patients. The current role will focus on both creating integrated datasets, by combining information from multiple studies, as well as, applying machine learning algorithems to these data and interogating the outputs. Expertise in statistics, health informatics and/or machine learning, in a health context, is therefore essential, as is exposure to large data sets, and the statistical programming skills to handle these.

You will have experience of interrogating biomedical datasets (such as electronic health records, clinical trials, patient registries, genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics etc.) for the purpose of data analysis. Excellent oral and written communication skills will also be a requirement for the post.

The Division of Informatics, Imaging and Data Science is committed to promoting equality and diversity, including the Athena SWAN charter for promoting women’s careers in STEMM subjects (science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine) in higher education. We particularly welcome applications from women for this post. Appointment will always be made on merit.
