  • The Oncogenetics Team at The Institute of Cancer Research has a vacancy for a Clinical Research Fellow in The Oncogenetics Targeted Screening Programme.
  • As this is a translational post, there will be clinical and laboratory research aspects.
  • The post holder will undertake research aimed at the application of genetic variants in targeted prostate cancer screening and risk prediction, leading to a higher degree.
  • Experience in TRUS prostate biopsy would be an advantage so this post would be of interest in particular to Urologists/Clinical Oncologists in training.
  • The work would involve a variety of molecular biological techniques, prostatic biopsy and targeted screening and management of prostate cancer due to a genetic predisposition.

The work will be carried out in collaboration with the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. The clinical duties associated with the post will include weekly sessions in Uro-Oncology, a prostate biopsy list and some experience in Cancer Genetics.

Starting salary will be in the range £28,357 – £47647 pa inclusive (depending on skills and experience) and the contract will be offered initially for a fixed term of one year in the first instance with potential for funding for 2 years. The candidate will be expected to work towards a higher degree. After appropriate training and discussions he/she would take on a specific project, which, it would be anticipated would lead to a higher degree (MD Res or MS).
