Genomics & Vascular Biology PhD Student Position @ Max Planck Munich

Job Offer from June 29, 2018
The Tissue Morphogenesis Department and the Regulatory Genomics Laboratory at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine in Muenster, Germany are offering Postdoctoral Research Fellow and PhD Student positions in Genomics and Vascular Biology (position code 17-2018).

Genomics & Vascular Biology PhD Student Position @ Max Planck Munich

The laboratories, headed by Ralf Adams and Juanma Vaquerizas, seek to appoint highly motivated scientists to work on genomic characterisations of the molecular mechanisms regulating vessel-tissue interactions. The successful candidates will analyse genome-wide gene expression and chromatin binding datasets to investigate how gene expression is controlled to determine cellular fate during blood vessel formation and organ-specific specialization. The specific tasks will include:

Analysis of cell- and tissue-specific RNA-seq, single cell RNA-seq and ATAC-seq datasets
Analysis of protein-DNA interactions using ChIP-seq
Integration of publicly available datasets relevant to the systems under study

Requirements
We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Postdoctoral Fellow with a PhD degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, (bio)-statistics, mathematics, or related fields, and with a strong drive to excel in a highly international and collaborative environment. We are also looking for a talented and highly motivated PhD student. Previous experience in genome-wide data analysis (eg, RNA-seq or ChIP-seq) will be a significant advantage. Please make sure that you specify your level of proficiency in dealing with genomics data in your cover letter.

Terms of employment
The position is offered as a fixed-term appointment for two years with the possibility of further extension following a successful evaluation. The earliest starting date for the position is 1 Oct 2018. The salary is based on the standard German TVöD scale for civil servants and depends on experience.
