Human Nutrition PhD Position @ETH Zurich | Switzerland

The Human Nutrition Laboratory at the Institute of Food, Nutrition and Health (IFNH) is seeking a highly motivated PhD student for a research project related to international Nutrition:

PhD Position on Population Iodine Nutrition

The research aims to develop a novel and innovative method to monitor iodine status in school-aged children and women of reproductive age for application in iodine nutrition surveys. The work will involve a large international field study conducted in six countries, laboratory analysis, as well as extensive data and statistical analysis.The project will be based at the Human Nutrition Laboratory at ETH Zurich, but will be conducted in close collaboration with local researchers around the world and will involve international travel. We offer an exciting position at a renowned university with close links to policy making and other disciplines. The position is full-time, funded for three years and available immediately.

The successful candidate should have a MSc degree in human nutrition, epidemiology or public health or a related field, excellent academic qualifications and speak and write English proficiently. The ideal candidate has a strong background in human nutrition, epidemiology and biostatistics and some laboratory experience. Previous work experience in low- or middle income countries is an additional asset as well as additional language skills. S/he is a team player, enjoys international and interdisciplinary work, has strong communication skills, and is willing to travel for fieldwork.
