Minimum Requirements

Ph.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university

Preferred

A Postdoctoral Fellow position is immediately available to study cellular/synaptic mechanisms and plasticity regulating the function autonomic and neuroendocrine neurons of the central nervous system in health and disease states, particularly hypertension and heart failure. Our laboratory uses state-of-the-art multidisciplinary approaches including patch-clamp electrophysiology, live Ca2+ imaging, immunohistochemistry, molecular biology and 3D neuronal reconstruction. Highly motivated applicants with a background in the area of brain control of the cardiovascular system, and experience in one of the listed techniques, preferable electrophysiology, are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

A training position designed to learn through engagement in an advanced level of scientific technical and administrative work in support of research efforts in an assigned laboratory or clinical research setting. The duties include, but are not limited to: studying cellular/synaptic mechanisms and plasticity regulating the function of CNS autonomic and neuroendocrine neurons in health and disease states, including hypertension, heart failure, obesity, diabetes and pregnancy; participate in research data collection and documentation within relevant guidelines and protocols; develop and evaluate new research techniques and procedures; publish results in scientific journals; perform a variety of complex chemical, biological, cytologic, microscopic, histologic, surgical, clinical, statistical/computational and dissection procedures; and other duties as assigned.
