This new post is for an ambitious post-doctoral researcher to generate key pilot data to explore the biological basis of fatigue using primary Sjögren’s syndrome as a disease model. We will use mathematical modelling of cytokine expression pathways to investigate these dynamics in order to generate hypothesis(es) to be tested in a future large-scale project. In this proposal, we seek to investigate the dynamics of serum proinflammatory cytokines and whole blood gene expression in fatigued and non-fatigued PSS patients, with a view to analyzing the role of inflammatory cytokines and their regulation in fatigue.

You will hold a PhD or the equivalent in professional qualifications in a relevant area and have an excellent understanding of immunology and microarray. Experience in fatigue research would be highly desirable.

You will have a high level of analytical and problem solving capability as well as the ability to communicate complex information with clarity and to encourage the commitment of others.

This post is tenable for one year from 1 July 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter.
