Immunology Postdoctoral Careers @ Empa | Switzerland: Empa – the place where innovation starts. Empa is the research institute for materials science and technology of the ETH Domain and conducts cutting-edge research for the benefit of industry and the well-being of society.
Our Laboratory for Biointerfaces at Empa in St. Gallen is offering a
Postdoctoral position on materials and in vitro models for skin wound healing.
The need for novel materials-based concepts for wound healing is increasing due to the challenges arising with the growing occurrence of chronic wounds in the aging society. In vitro skin models are of interest for the deeper understanding of molecular mechanisms of relevant biological processes in wound healing. However, the lack of the immune response is one of its shortcomings.
You will establish – and work with advanced in vitro models to understand the mechanisms of skin wound healing and to develop new materials-based concepts to support wound healing. You will be responsible for designing, executing and analyzing scientific experiments in an interdisciplinary environment in cooperation with industrial and academic partners. In addition, you will write scientific publications, support grant applications and present data at national and international conferences.
We are looking for a highly motivated researcher with a PhD degree in cell biology/immunology, with experience in the field of skin, wound healing and immunology, who is capable to independently and efficiently pursue basic scientific and industry related projects in an interdisciplinary environment. You are open-minded, dynamic and have good communication skills (English is a must, German is considered an advantage). You are proficient with cell- and molecular biology tools (i.e. fluorescence microscopy, SEM, qRT-PCR, western blot, ELISA). Experience with signaling pathway analysis is considered a plus.
We offer a highly interdisciplinary research environment with state of the art laboratory equipment to perform industry relevant cutting-edge research. This position (100%) is immediately available and for a period of 2 years with the possibility for an extension.
