Job Description

The Infectious Diseases Area at NIBR is a team of more than 200 scientists using a diverse array of approaches and cutting-edge technologies to discover and develop drugs to address unmet medical need.

We are seeking a highly motivated M.Sc. or Ph.D. level scientist with strong skills and relevant experience in the application of Mass Spectrometry to the discovery of novel therapeutics. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the mass spectrometry group to enable Infectious Diseases project teams by driving the development and execution of novel assay platforms for the discovery of next generation anti-infective compounds.

Responsibilities:

  • Define the overall scientific directions of the Infectious Diseases Mass Spectrometry group.
  • Drive the implementation of new technological approaches and capabilities within the Infectious Diseases research area.
  • Design, develop, and implement assays suitable for hit generation, mechanistic profiling and exploration of key biological questions.
  • Collaborate across global organization to leverage innovation and infrastructure to build local capabilities.
  • Lead and develop research associates.
  • Generate and manage scientific data to meet project team goals.
  • Expertly author and review written documentation of research and expertly communicate information to key stakeholders

Minimum requirements/Qualifications:

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Chemistry or similar field, with 5 plus years of relevant biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industry experience including a sound knowledge of the drug discovery process.
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with LC/MS is required. Experience with automation, MALDI, HPLC and GLC is a plus.
  • Ability to devise experimental strategies and execute them in a timely manner to produce goal-oriented results is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with scientists from multiple disciplines is required.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Proven mentorship and situational leadership skills to enable others are required.
  • Demonstrated solid track record of scientific achievements is required.
  • Some knowledge of current infectious diseases research is a plus.
