It is the home of six schools (including one of two LSU medical schools), 12 Centers of Excellence, and two patient care clinics. Due to Hurricane Katrina, the School of Dentistry was temporarily located in Baton Rouge but has since returned to its campus in New Orleans. It resumed operations in New Orleans in September 2007. As a state school, it mostly accepts residents of the state of Louisiana with the exception of combined M.D./Ph.D. students and also children of alumni. Description

The LSU Health Sciences Center, Department of Medicine, Section of Hematology Oncology seeks an enthusiastic, successful faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (non-tenure, clinical track). The LSU Health Sciences Center is located in beautiful New Orleans, Louisiana. It is the home of 6 schools and several Centers of Excellence, inclusive of Stanley S. Scott Cancer Center. The LSUHSC School of Medicine is currently expanding its relationships with its private clinical partners in concert with management transitions at the LSU public hospitals. A new University Medical Center, a 1.2 billion state of the art facility, is anticipated to open this year. This is an excellent opportunity to join our growing practice.

Primary responsibilities of this position include patient care including inpatient wards, consult service and outpatient clinic; teach medical students, house staff and fellows, and research. A robust basic-science program in cancer through the Stanley S. Scott Cancer Center provides opportunities for collaborative and translational research activities. The Clinical Research Program includes the NCI-NCORP trials as well as industry sponsored trials and the opportunity to develop investigator initiated trials. Academic appointment commensurate with professional experience. Opportunities for leadership roles within our clinical and research activities are available. Compensation packages are competitive.

Qualifications

  • ABIM board certified in Internal Medicine
  • Board certified/board eligible in Hematology and/or Medical Oncology and have active research interest
  • Licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana by start date

The School of Medicine does not participate in sponsoring faculty candidates for the Department of Health and Hospitals’ Conrad 30 Program.
