Full Professorship in Medicinal Chemistry

The Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy of the University of Southern Denmark invites applications for a full professorship in medicinal chemistry starting May 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The objective of the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy is to be an interdisciplinary department of high international standard. The department breaks down borders between research fields and aims to develop new sciences and technologies across physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology and pharmacy. Currently, the department has 40 professors on the permanent staff, 18 chemists, 17 physicists and 5 pharmacists.

The advertised position aims at strengthening the department’s cross-disciplinary research and education within medicinal chemistry and pharmacy.

The successful applicant is expected to have demonstrated substantial and independent research within the area of medicinal chemistry at the highest international level as well as the ability to attract significant external funding for his/her research projects.

Important criteria in the selection process will be:

  •  International scientific standing
  • Ability to attract external funding
  • Cross-disciplinary research between chemistry and pharmacy
  • Industrial collaborations
  • Experience with patenting and entrepreneurship
  • International collaborations
  • Teaching experience and qualifications

In addition to the research expectations, the successful applicant will participate in the department’s teaching areas at the bachelor, master, and PhD levels, including supervision of chemistry and pharmacy students at all levels. The teaching qualifications of the applicant will constitute an important part of the general evaluation.

Appointment to the position will be in accordance with the salary agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Applications will be assessed by an expert committee. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the university.
