Additional Information

Purpose

To study mechanisms of complex traits using cross-species based approaches, specifically, to study the relationship between genetics, gene expression, non-coding and behavior.

Essential Functions

Conducting scientific research through collecting and analyzing data; specifically intended for specialized high-performance computing geared towards understanding the molecular biology of disease and pharmacotherapies. Analyze data from human subjects involved in high-throughput sequencing. Editing and writing scientific manuscripts for publication scientific journals.
Marginal/Incidental functions
Other related functions as assigned.

Required qualifications

Ph.D. in neuroscience or related field, including pharmacology, toxicology, genetics, and/or genomics. At least 3 years of experience of computational biology as applied to neuroscience and understanding the molecular actions of small molecules. Experience with bioinformatics and multivariate statistical methods. Experience with a variety of model organisms involving knowledge most pertinent to behavioral techniques and neuroanatomy. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of UNIX, PERL, PYTHON, and R. Experience with manuscript writing for publications in scientific journals; writing and preparation of grants for funding; assist in training graduate and undergraduate students in scientific techniques. Competent researcher with strong interpersonal communication skills. Desired: Highly knowledgeable in psychiatric disorders, especially addiction and alcohol use disorder.
