Job Description

The NIBR Biologics Center (NBC) is seeking a highly qualified and motivated in vivo biologist to join the Protein Design Engineering and Function unit. This position will be part of a multidisciplinary team focused on the development of biologics-based therapeutics (antibodies, proteins and nucleic acids). The primary responsibilities of this position are conducting and interpreting a diverse array of animal (rodent) and cell-based studies in support of pre-clinical drug and technology development programs. Specific in vivo responsibilities include: in vivo efficacy and bio-distribution studies, elucidation of PK/PD relationships, and animal model development. The candidate will also be expected to develop and execute various biochemical and cell-based assays in support of in vivo activities. Specific experience with biologics-based technologies/methodologies is desirable.

Minimum requirements

  • This position requires a BS or MS degree in Biology, Cell/Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or related field with 3-5 years of academic or industrial research experience.
  • Proven track record of innovative project contributions including peer-reviewed publications is desired.
  • The successful candidate will have extensive experience utilizing and developing rodent in vivo models.
  • Specific qualifications include: all aspects of animal husbandry, compound administration, blood collection, necropsy and whole-animal imaging techniques.
  • Additional desired experience includes basic molecular and cellular biology techniques such as mammalian cell culture, microscopy, real-time PCR, molecular cloning, and compound efficacy profiling.
  • Good organizational and analytical skills, a working knowledge of data management, word processing, and graphing software are essential.
  • Additionally, the ideal candidate will have excellent oral/written communications skills with the ability to work both independently and in the context of a multidisciplinary team of chemists, biologists, and pharmacologists.
