RA Life Sciences Job Vacancy @ NRC for Orchids

RA Life Sciences Job Vacancy @ ICAR-NRC for Orchids, Pakyong, Sikkim: The National Research Centre for Orchids was established on 5th October 1996 by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi to organize research programme on improvement in productivity, quality and commercialization of orchids. The Sikkim state authorities handed over 22.19 acres of land belonging to Regional Agricultural Centre along with all other assets to ICAR for establishment of the centre. In October 1997, the centre also took over the CPRS, Darjeeling from CPRI and established a campus for research on temperate orchids.

Walk-in interview will be held for the following post under Himalayan Research Fellowship scheme of National Mission on Himalayan Studies. The appointment will be purely on contractual basis and the incumbents shall not have any claim for regular appointment in ICAR or MoEF & CC.

Name of the project: Conservation, sustainable use and equitable benefit sharing arising out of use of natural resources (orchids)

Name of the post: Research Associate

No. of posts: One (01)

Duration: Initially for a period of one year and extendable up to 3 years depending on performance

Emoluments: Rs. 36,000 + HRA per month

Qualification:

Essential:

Ph.D. in life sciences  or agricultural sciences with specialization in Botany, Agricultural Botany, Economic Botany, Plant Genetic Resources , Plant Taxonomy or Biotechnology

OR

M.Tech in above mentioned disciplines and specializations with three years experience in research , teaching, design and development in public sector institute or university

Desirable:

Experience of working in orchids

Age Limit: 35 years (Relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/Women candidates as per govt. rules)

Terms & conditions:

  • Candidates selected for Himalayan Research Fellowship must submit a surety bond at the time of appointment to continue the fellowship for at least two years with terms and conditions laid by the Institute including refund of fellowship
  • The position is purely on contractual basis and is co-terminus with the scheme /project. There is no provision of re-employment after termination of project
  • The selected candidate is liable to be posted at ICAR-NRC for Orchids either at Pakyong or Darjeeling. They have to undertake extensive field survey in North Eastern India
  • No Ta/DA will be paid for attending the interview
  • Applicants should bring with them original documents along with one passport size photograph and brief note on research works carried out during post graduation or graduation along with one set of photocopy of certificates and thesis in original at the time of Walk-in interview.
  • ‘No objection certificate’ from his/her employer and experience certificate in original should be produced at the time of interview in case they are already employed.
  • Canvassing in any form will lead to cancelling of candidature
  • The decision of the Director, ICAR-NRC for Orchids, Pakyong, Sikkim would be final and binding in all aspects
