The Protein Engineering Department in CID is seeking an outstanding and motivated non-PhD Senior Research Associate with experience in molecular biology, protein purification and cell-based assays to contribute in protein engineering and technology development projects. The successful applicant, being an integral part of research team groups, will be working closely with individuals in both protein engineering and immunology/oncology on developing novel biotherapeutics.


  • The primary responsibility will be to express and purify recombinant antibodies and antigens from E. coli and mammalian cells for therapeutics discovery
  • To perform molecular biology to generate various constructs
  • To set up in vitro assays and conduct standard tissue culture in support of in vitro assays
  • Required an individual who is highly motivated, ready to learn new skills efficiently, has meticulous bench-work and record-keeping skills and can function independently and adapt to changing environments.
  • To analyze, organize, and present results in meetings
  • Read relevant scientific literature to aid in experimental design.

Sr. Associate Scientist (non-PhD), Protein Engineering @ Pfizer


  •  A BS or MS in molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, chemical engineering and an equivalent field with a minimum of 3 years with a BS degree, or 0-3 years with MS, of hands-on laboratory research.
  • Prior experience in protein engineering or protein biochemistry is required.
  • Experience in purifying E. coli and mammalian cells expressed proteins using various chromatography techniques (Protein A, Nickel, affinity, ion exchange, and size-exclusion chromatography)
  • Strong technical proficiency with molecular biology methods (PCR, nucleic acid purification, cloning)
  • Experience with standard protein characterization techniques such as SDS-PAGE, ELISA, Western Blot is required
  • Experience in cell culture is required
  • Outstanding pro-active attitude, interpersonal, collaborative and oral communication skills
  • Track record of demonstrating analytical skills, problem-solving skills, and independent work
  • Ability and desire to work in an interdisciplinary scientific team and the desire to learn new techniques
  • Experience with data processing software including Excel, Prism, and/or Matlab is required.


  • Ability to manage large data sets is strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in protein purification using AKTA chromatography systems is strongly preferred
  • Experience with purifying and using antibodies is desired
  • Previous experience with protein engineering techniques such as phage display and yeast display is a plus
